How to choose a research peptide supplier in Europe: a checklist
Research peptides are sold by many online shops, and from the outside they look much the same. The differences that matter, such as whether the vial contains what the label says, how long the parcel takes and what happens if something goes wrong, only show up after you order. This checklist covers what to look at before you buy.
1. Independent lab reports you can verify
A certificate of analysis (COA) is the only evidence of what is in a vial, so it deserves the most attention.
- Who did the testing: the report should come from an independent laboratory, not only from the manufacturer or the shop itself.
- What was measured: identity (usually by mass spectrometry), purity (by HPLC) and, ideally, the actual amount of peptide in the vial. A purity figure alone does not tell you whether a "10 mg" vial contains 10 mg.
- Can you check it: good labs give each report a unique task number or key that lets you look up their own copy online. If the shop's PDF and the lab's copy differ, walk away.
- How recent and how specific: a report from years ago, or one report shared across many products, says little about what you will receive. Ask which sample a report covers and whether newer testing exists.
Our guide to reading a COA explains each part of a report and how to spot one you cannot trust.
2. Where the parcel ships from
For customers in the EU, a supplier that ships from inside the EU has clear advantages:
- No customs: goods moving within the EU do not go through customs, so there are no import duties and no risk of the parcel being held for inspection.
- Speed: a parcel posted within Europe typically arrives in days; shipments from outside Europe can take weeks, longer if stopped at the border.
- Accountability: a seller operating inside the EU is reachable under EU consumer rules.
Be wary of shops with a European-looking website that actually ship from elsewhere. The shipping page should say clearly where orders are dispatched from.
3. Delivery time and tracking
- A stated delivery time: look for a concrete promise, such as dispatch within a set number of days and delivery within a set time after dispatch, rather than "fast shipping".
- Tracking on every order: you should receive a tracking number as soon as the parcel leaves.
- A known carrier: established carriers are faster and more reliable, and handle lost or damaged parcels properly.
Speed also matters for the product. Lyophilised (freeze-dried) peptides tolerate a few days at room temperature well, but the shorter the time in transit, the better.
4. Payment and buyer protection
- Card payments (including Apple Pay and Google Pay) give you a route to dispute a charge if an order never arrives.
- Crypto-only shops leave you with no way to recover a payment. Crypto can be a useful option, but a shop that accepts nothing else deserves extra caution.
- Payment pages: card details should only ever be entered on a secure payment provider's page, never sent by email or message.
5. Clear policies and contact
Before ordering, check that the shop publishes:
- shipping costs and delivery times;
- what happens if a parcel is lost or damaged, and how refunds work;
- terms of sale and a privacy policy;
- a working email address that answers questions before you buy.
6. Red flags
- Human dosing advice or medical claims: research peptides are sold for laboratory use. A shop that publishes dosing protocols or promises health effects is ignoring the rules it operates under, which says something about how it handles everything else.
- Prices far below everyone else: peptide synthesis and independent testing have real costs. Very low prices often mean lower purity, under-filled vials or no testing at all.
- Reports that cannot be verified, or the same report shown for different products.
- No information about where the shop ships from or how to contact it.
- Pressure tactics, such as countdown timers on every product or "only 2 left" on everything.
How we handle these points
- Lab reports: we publish independent reports from Janoshik Analytical on our lab testing page, unchanged and with their verification keys, so you can check each one with the lab. Each report covers the sample tested on the date shown. Products backed by a published report say "Third-party tested"; the others say "Lab-tested supplier".
- Shipping: orders ship from Germany with UPS and are delivered within 72 hours of dispatch to all 27 EU countries, with tracking on every parcel. Details are on our Shipping & Returns page.
- Payment: card, Apple Pay and Google Pay through a secure payment page, or crypto.
- Research use only: our product pages describe published research and do not give human dosing.
