Overview
ARA-290, also known as cibinetide, is based on a small part of erythropoietin (EPO). EPO protects tissues in addition to making red blood cells; ARA-290 was designed to keep only the protective part.
It activates the so-called innate repair receptor and has been studied in clinical trials on small-fibre neuropathy, as well as in models of diabetes and nerve damage.
Research areas
- Small-fibre neuropathy and nerve pain
- Innate repair receptor signalling
- Inflammation and metabolic models
