Overview
Amylin is a hormone released together with insulin after meals. It slows stomach emptying and acts on the brain to signal satiety. Native amylin is short-lived and tends to clump, so cagrilintide was designed as a stable, long-acting version with a fatty acid chain that binds albumin.
It activates both amylin and calcitonin receptors and is studied on its own and, more often, together with GLP-1 agonists such as semaglutide.
