Overview
GHK-Cu is a small peptide of three amino acids (glycine, histidine, lysine) that binds copper. It occurs naturally in human plasma, saliva and urine, and its levels decline with age.
It has been studied for decades in skin science, where it is associated with collagen and elastin production, tissue remodelling and antioxidant activity. Gene-expression studies suggest it influences a large number of human genes involved in repair.
Research areas
- Collagen, elastin and extracellular-matrix synthesis
- Wound healing and skin remodelling
- Hair-follicle biology
- Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory gene expression
