Overview
Melanotan 2 is a shorter, ring-shaped analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. Unlike melanotan 1 it activates several melanocortin receptors, not only MC1R.
Because of this it affects skin pigmentation as well as appetite and sexual function, which are controlled by MC3R and MC4R in the brain. PT-141 was developed from it.
