Overview
PT-141, also known as bremelanotide, is derived from melanotan II. It activates melanocortin receptors in the brain, mainly MC4R, which are involved in sexual motivation.
Unlike drugs that act on blood flow, it works through the central nervous system. It is an approved medicine in the United States for low sexual desire in premenopausal women.
