Overview
Rapastinel (GLYX-13) modulates the NMDA receptor, the same receptor targeted by ketamine, but in a gentler way that does not block it.
It was developed as a rapid-acting antidepressant without ketamine's dissociative effects. Early trials were promising, but large phase 3 trials did not meet their goals, and it remains a research compound.
